About Us

Hello, we are Sandra and Matthias and in addition to this great online shop, we also run a small shop called 'Ins Blaue' in Kassel. We also enrich Christmas markets and summer markets with our unique textiles and handicrafts from all over the world. We source our goods from a wide variety of countries and regions around the world, and we have a good relationship with all producers and insight into all production processes. This allows us to ensure that all of our goods are produced under fair and good working conditions.

After studying organic farming, a long night at the kitchen table in our shared flat in 2004 with Anke, a friend, gave rise to the idea of ​​having oriental handicrafts made according to our ideas in Marrakech and Damascus and selling them at festivals, craft and Christmas markets in Germany. After two exciting years together with many new experiences, Anke decided to accept a new, lucrative job offer and quit in 2006. Over the next few years, a functioning concept slowly established itself with friendly and reliable family-run craft businesses in Marrakech, a broader range of products, good events and great employees. When my long-term partner Sandra became more and more involved in the design from 2010 onwards, the small company developed in a new direction and the big, colorful world of textiles became part of us.

We have the majority of our summer textile collection manufactured in Thailand in collaboration with family businesses. The winter textile collection of our own small label "Sternstunde" is manufactured with the help of family businesses in Nepal. When developing and ordering the new collections, we are regularly on site ourselves and work directly with the tailors, knitters and producers. This enables us to incorporate our own ideas in a direct and lively exchange and to guarantee fair cooperation and fair working conditions.

With the Corona pandemic and the cancellation of many Christmas markets, we took the bold step and launched two more heart projects in 2020. We opened the concept store 'Ins Blaue' in our hometown of Kassel and our first online shop on the Etsy platform. Fortunately, both developed amazingly well and we have not regretted these decisions for a single day. With this experience, we have now decided to set up our own Sternstunde store.
